Tree Canada

Tree Canada’s website was developed using the WordPress Classic Editor. I developed two new sections of the website using the WordPress Block Editor. These new sections were carefully developed to function alongside the existing features of the website. Continue reading below to learn about each resource.

As the communications lead at Tree Canada, a national environmental charity, I’ve had the pleasure of working with Melissa on two web redesign projects on the topic of urban forestry. Both projects were completed on time and on budget, and the process was very smooth thanks to Melissa’s first-rate organizational skills. We were very happy with the final products, which also involved entering massive amounts of content in English and French into the newly designed pages. Melissa and her team took take of everything. I would definitely work with her again!

Growing Green Cities: A Practical
Guide to Urban Forestry in Canada

These first resource I developed for Tree Canada is the Urban Forestry Guide. It is a resource on urban forest planning created by academics experts. It was originally named the Compendium of Best Urban Forest Management Practices and the Tree Canada team re-wrote the content in 2025. My team and I designed, developed, and managed all content entry for the new version of this resource. The result is a beautiful, accessible, easy to navigate and mobile-friendly resource.

The resource was developed for the web. It also includes a dynamic PDF version for those who wish to print the resource. The PDF version is dynamically created from the content entered into WordPress. This process is efficient for the Tree Canada team.

The Urban Forestry Guide resource works flawlessly on mobile. I created a custom Block Pattern for the highlights section. It features key points from the current chapter.

Understanding and Mitigating Green Gentrification in Canada: A Toolkit for Practitioners

These second resource I developed for Tree Canada is the Green Gentrification Toolkit. It is a brand new resource created by Tree Canada and their academic partners in 2026. Like the Urban Forestry Guide, this resource is fully bilingual in English and French.

This resource uses the WordPress footnotes block to make simplify managing and accessing the many academic references. The full list of resources is available in the printable PDF version of the toolkit.
