We’re all told to be mindful of what we do on our work computers. You know, be careful not to google ‘pressure cookers’ and ‘backpacks’. Someone may be watching.

Yet, I choose to track what websites and applications I use. Every time I use the computer, I have Rescue Time running in the background. It keeps track of every website, application, or program I use.

I love having access to all of this data.

It’s useful for keeping track of my billable hours for a freelance project, or just to see how long it takes me to complete something. It’s also super useful for students – if you’re trying to focus on finishing a paper. I don’t know about you; but, I’m less likely to dawdle on distracting websites if I know my web usage is being tracked.

Now, I just hope none of my future bosses install Rescue Time.
